We invite you to gather in Sacramento with over 1,000 leaders from across the PICO California Network on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, for the Families Are Sacred Convention: a powerful day of action to launch our collective vision for California, and build our power to make that vision a reality.

This will be a day of action, both inspiring and strategic, as we lift up the strength of our faith voice and our shared moral call to justice. Join us if you believe all Families are Sacred. Here’s What That Means This Year:
• End the profit-driven deportation and detention system. No corporation should profit from separating families, detaining our neighbors, or incentivizing incarceration.
• Safe and stable homes for every family. Housing is not a privilege for the few, it is a foundation for dignity, safety, and thriving communities.
• Don’t balance budgets on our most vulnerable families. Fiscal responsibility must never come at the expense of lifesaving healthcare, safe and abundant schools, family unity, or due process.
• Justice that restores and strengthens communities. We seek a criminal justice system rooted in rehabilitation, accountability, and mercy not cycles of incarceration that disproportionately harm Black and immigrant families and destabilize neighborhoods.

Sacramento ACT is supporting Ecumenical Ash Wednesday Service that is being led by Bishop Jaime Soto with participation from other Faith Leaders from the region. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of lent in many Christian Faith Denominations and all are welcome to attend regardless of Faith affiliation.
We will gather at the (John Moss Federal Building) where the unlawful detention and deportation of our immigrant neighbors occurs.

Prayer and Posada
Within one week, Sac ACT faith leaders and community members will be hosting their 3rd prayer vigil. This time we will be having several events leading up to the vigil. Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Sacramento was chosen for this vigil as its name and mission are deeply intertwined with the journey of migrants and the search for sanctuary.
The timing coincides with the traditional Posadas season observed in many Christian communities. This period, focused on the story of a family seeking shelter, creates a powerful shared context for people of all faiths to reflect on the urgent modern crisis of displacement and the moral imperative to offer refuge.
The Posadas tradition recounts the journey of Mary and Joseph as they traveled to Bethlehem, seeking a safe place to stay and being repeatedly turned away before finding shelter. "Posada" itself means "dwelling" or "lodging."
While this narrative originates from a specific faith, the core experience—the search for safety, the anxiety of rejection, and the profound relief of finding welcome—transcends any single tradition. It mirrors the journey of countless families today who are fleeing peril and seeking security, only to face closed doors and the words, "you can't stay here."
This vigil invites everyone—people of all faiths and spiritual backgrounds—to stand together, using this poignant seasonal story as a bridge to understanding and a call to action for our shared community.

Dentro de una semana, los líderes religiosos y miembros de la comunidad de Sac ACT realizarán su tercera vigilia de oración. Esta vez, tendremos varios eventos previos a la vigilia. Se eligió la Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Sacramento para esta vigilia porque su nombre y su misión están profundamente entrelazados con el viaje de los migrantes y la búsqueda de santuario.
El momento coincide con la tradicional temporada de Posadas, observada en muchas comunidades cristianas. Este período, centrado en la historia de una familia que busca refugio, crea un contexto compartido y poderoso para que personas de todas las creencias reflexionen sobre la urgente crisis moderna de desplazamiento y el imperativo moral de ofrecer refugio.
**La Historia de las Posadas: Una Metáfora Compartida**
La tradición de las Posadas relata el viaje de María y José a Belén, buscando un lugar seguro donde quedarse y siendo rechazados repetidamente antes de encontrar cobijo. "Posada" significa, precisamente, "alojamiento" o "hospedaje".
